WARMING & COMFORTING
Rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis) also known as Redbush – a shrub with needle like leaves grown in the Cederberg mountains in Western & Northern Cape in South Africa. Although cultivated over 300 hundred years, it wasn’t until the early 20th century, that it was processed and oxidised in a similar way to tea.
It does not contain caffeine and is hailed for its calming properties and many other health benefits. Small red-brown needles with a sweetish earthy aroma, produce a deep red distinctive woody infusion. It has an excellent depth of flavour, and will give further repeated infusions. If you prefer scented teas you may enjoy our Redbush Earl Grey scented with bergamot. Another South African delicious caffeine-free, sweeter alternative to Rooibos is Honeybush.
